Kiyomi Reid
A Japanese born, Melbourne based, textile artist who specialises in hand-making a range of intricate, hand sewn bags and pouches, Reid is fascinated by the “puzzle solving” aspect of creating items which combine the diverse patterns and colours of vintage kimonos, with the use of modern black denim. Traditional Japanese ‘Sashiko’ stitching is used to fuse the two elements together in a way which Reid believes unites two cultures.
