It would be a mistake to reduce John Young's paintings to a series of neat philosophical dualities. Indeed the works not only intersect with some of the most pressing socio-political issues of today - globalism, racism, immigration, nationalism, imperialism to name a few - but also provide a complexity of ideas and emotions which defy categorisation.
