In contemporary Australia an artist is not defined by his or her practice, having to pursue only one goal, rather they have the opportunity to try new paths and to push outside established boundaries. But above all the diverse reasons for these works being created, it has to be acknowledged that still life, as a genre, is still evolving and relevant in contemporary Australian artistic practice.
