TarraWarra Museum of Art is delighted to offer your school the opportunity to visit our Museum and explore the diverse range of Australian art on offer. The Museum will provide a guided tour by the experienced personnel who will share the vision for this unique Museum and its current collection. Tours are offered Tuesday through Sunday between 11am – 4pm.

Our secondary school talks can be tailored to any year level and interests. The focus of the tour can be tailored to the specific VCE unit being studied. Please advise us when booking if you have a specific request in regard to the content covered in the tour.

Tour Options

Tours should include at least 10 and no more than 30 students. (Numbers can be negotiated case-by-case). The cost is $3 per student for tours.

Self-guided tours – All groups must book to avoid tour clashes and overcrowding in the museum.

Note: Teachers and chaperones are admitted free

How to book a tour

Booking inquiries can be made by contacting the museum, at museum@twma.com.au or phone 03 5957 3100; or simply by completing an online request form. Tours must be booked at least two weeks in advance of date requested. Tour confirmation will be e-mailed to the address provided on the form. We request that a week before the tour you call to confirm your tour date, time and the number in your group.

 

Guided Tour Information 

Tour Length: Guided tours will take approximately 20-30mins.

Minimum Group Tour Size: 10 students

Maximum Group Tour Size: 30 students

Special Requirements: Due to insurance regulations regarding the artworks, guests are asked not to bring pens into the museum, but pencils can be used instead. We also ask that guests leave backpacks or large bags at reception

How long should we spend at the museum?

We recommend that guests spend an additional 30mins to enjoy the exhibition following the guided tour.

What if we have a group larger than 30 guests?

Subject to staffing availability we may be able to split your large group into two smaller groups and provide tours at the same time; otherwise we may need to give two consecutive tours.

Can my guests bring their lunch to the museum?

Lunch facilities are not available at the museum as it is also a working vineyard; there are many lovely park areas in nearby Healesville with picnic facilities where the guests can enjoy their lunch and the museum reception staff will be happy to give you a map noting these. We can also provide lunch boxes for your group with a minimum of 7 days’ notice, price on application.

 Can my guests take photos of the exhibition?

Unfortunately, most exhibitions do not allow photography of the art works, however, we do have spectacular views of the valley from our architecturally designed windows which you can take photos of.

What if I want specific information covered in the tour?

If you have particular requests with regard to the information you wish staff to cover during the talk on the exhibition, please let us know at least two weeks prior to your tour, and we will do our best to assist.
