Charles Anderson
A House for Hermes #01: The House of my Father

Past Exhibitions
5 April - 5 August 2007

Charles Anderson, obsessed with the spatial and transformational poetics of ephemera, generates a kind of ‘vagrant work’ variously inhabiting the ‘worlds’ of art, architecture, landscape, urban design, and couture. Embracing collaborative partnerships with artists, writers, performance makers, and designers, Anderson hybridises generative procedures to materialise processes of time and to reformulate the spatial hierarchies that characterise the lived spaces of our world.

Anderson’s installation A House for Hermes #01 is a long meditation on the relationship between memory, place, movement, and ‘home’. This project recalls the many houses that Anderson has lived in and gathers all their various spaces into one aggregated and re-membered architecture. The House of My Father is the first iteration of this larger ongoing project (The second part entitled Bel-povera was completed late in 2008). This exhibition endeavours to articulate this manifold spatial memory within the project space of the TarraWarra Museum of Art.
