Australian masterpieces from the TWMA collection, Landscape
21 March - 15 August 2010
TWMA is pleased to announce the opening of the Australian masterpieces from the TWMA collection, that will feature works from the TWMA permanent collection. This permanent hang in the South Gallery will feature treasures from the collection through a changing program of themed exhibitions. TWMA holds one of the nation’s finest collections of Australian modernist and contemporary paintings, most visitors to TWMA are keen to view our collection and learn more about how the collection was formed and developed by Eva and Marc Besen. Featuring a recently produced DVD that outlines the development of TWMA and the collection from inaugural Director Maudie Palmer and current Director Jane Scott, visitors are invited to review this extraordinary collection. The theme of the inaugural exhibition is Landscape, one of the strengths of the TWMA collection, and features recent contemporary acquisitions by Ben Quilty and Tony Clark alongside significant landscapes by modernist artists Sidney Nolan, Arthur Boyd, Fred Williams and many more.
