Breathwork in the Museum for Rose Nolan: Breathing Helps

Friday 10 October 2025 - Friday 7 November 2025
Workshops

“To keep going, breathing helps.”

An invitation to slow down and experience the Museum, the art and the self, through breath.

This two-part breathwork series invites visitors to engage with Rose Nolan: Breathing Helps not just as an exhibition to view, but as a space to enter with their whole body. Lying directly on Nolan’s sculptural carpet work, Big Words (Not Mine): Transcend the poverty of partial vision, participants are guided through gentle breathwork practices that explore presence, rhythm, and spacious attention echoing the repetition and materiality found in Nolan’s work.

What is breathwork?

Breathwork is a gentle, body-based practice that supports nervous system regulation and emotional clarity. It helps quiet the mind, deepen awareness, and foster a sense of connection. Whether you’re completely new or simply curious, these sessions offer a spacious and welcoming introduction.

Held within the sculptural, text-based installation, these sessions are inspired by Nolan’s pared-back aesthetic and themes of space, movement, and care. They offer a sensory experience that fosters a deeper relationship with the artworks, the Museum environment, and your own inner landscape. Each session is an opportunity to notice what lies beneath the surface—of language, of form, and of feeling.

Accessibility and Participation

This event is open to everyone and suitable for all experience levels. There are no contraindications for participation. Please note, however, that the session involves lying on the floor for an extended period. If you have any access requirements or would like to discuss alternative arrangements, please contact us ahead of time—we will do our best to support your comfort and inclusion.

Sunni Hart (she/her) is a Rebirthing Breathwork Mastery practitioner with a background in birthwork. Her work is rooted in presence, relational care and the belief that conscious breath is a pathway to healing, liberation and return. Sunni’s practice has been shaped by years spent supporting others through birth, loss, and transformation as a doula, educator, mentor and mother.

She specialises in using the breath as a tool to unlock creative flow and release blocks which may be emotional, somatic and expressive. Her sessions help participants soften internal resistance and reconnect with the intuitive, generative force within.

In 2024, Sunni received the International Certificate of Rebirthing Breathwork Mastery, from The School of Breathwork with Eleanor Mann in partnership with Alakh Analda and is a member of the Australian Breathwork Association, which upholds national standards for training, ethics, continuing education and supervision.
