Learning Experience

Learning that sparks creativity

Our Approach

Our learning experience programs contribute to an enhanced sense of social and emotional wellbeing – of connection and curiosity.

Our learning experiences are designed to provide different pathways and approaches to learning to suit your students’ needs and to provide a valuable experience for educators. TarraWarra Museum of Art delivers an inspiring program of learning experiences for primary, secondary and tertiary students that will help to develop their creative and critical thinking skills. Access, diversity and inclusion are at the core of all of our exhibitions, events and activities.

Tours led by experienced educators

TarraWarra Museum of Art’s enquiry-based tours focus on students discovering their individual and creative relationships with the art experience Our experienced educators work with each school to create bespoke tours, workshops and learning formats to suit student needs and curriculum requirements.

Our program aligns with the Victorian Curriculum, Foundation to Year 10, Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) guidelines.

Art for all

TarraWarra Museum of Art believes in creating an inclusive and accessible learning environment for all. Reflecting the Museum’s inner regional location in the Yarra Ranges, our program prioritises local, small, remote and regional schools; schools with high levels of First Nations, EAL (English as an Additional Language), CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse), LGBTIQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer and other diverse identities), and ICSEA (Index of Community Socio-educational Advantage).

Many government and special schools in the region do not have access to art/cultural education in a museum context. The Museum’s subsidised program provides a free bus service plus free programs for disadvantaged schools. With financial support, we plan to expand our access program by increasing the number of buses available, providing transport to schools further afield, and increasing the number of free programs for schools.
