10 Year Anniversary Celebrations

In celebration of 10 years since TarraWarra Museum of Art opened, we are planning a weekend of fun family activities.

FREE ENTRY to the Museum all weekend!
Visit free of charge the feature exhibitions Russell Drysdale: Defining the Modern Australian Landscape and Future Memorials: Jonathan Jones, Tom Nicholson and Aunty Joy Wandin Murphy

Free TarraWarra Trail 
11am – 5pm each day
Follow the trail to explore the fascinating history of the local area and the museum, then go into the draw for the chance to win a prize inspired by Russell Drysdale’s painting Murphy’s 1947. Includes an overnight stay in 2 x Queen Suites at the Healesville Hotel and a $100 meal voucher.

Free Pop up talks 
On the hour from 12 noon – 4pm each day
Learn more about selected Drysdale works by attending one of our free pop up talks, taking place on the hour every hour, Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon.

Free Meet a Wedge-tailed eagle 
12 noon each day (weather permitting)
Making a special visit from Healesville Sanctuary is Bunjil, a living embodiment of the creator spirit of the Wurundjeri people. Then, view the museum’s North and Vista Galleries to learn more about Aboriginal history in the Future Memorials exhibition.

Free Cricket Clinic 
11am – 1pm each day
Have fun and learn more about why cricket continues to be Australia’ most popular sport, and be inspired by Russell Drysdale’s iconic painting The Cricketers 1948. Children and families are invited to come and polish up on their bowling and batting skills, led by the Healesville Cricket Club.

Children’s Workshop: Sculpture Making
2pm – 4pm Sunday 8 December
Led by artist Sarah Metzner, children will learn how to make their own sculpture, inspired by Clement Meadmore’s Awakening 1968, which has recently been gifted to the Museum.
Cost $20 per child $18 per member
Maximum 12 participants, suitable for children aged 6-12 yo

A new collaboration between TarraWarra Museum of Art and Healesville Sanctuary will also be announced on the 10th Anniversary Free Public Open weekend.

Both venues will be introducing a special reduced reciprocal entry fee for visitors during the Future Memorials exhibition until the 9th of February. Joint tours will take place in January at the Museum and Healesville Sanctuary for the Future Memorials exhibition and Spirit of the Land Indigenous walking tour at Healesville Sanctuary.

Reciprocal reduced entry fees to TWMA and Healesville Sanctuary are claimed by presenting a TWMA or Healesville Sanctuary ticket purchase receipt when visiting the alternative venue; only applicable until 9 February 2014. Reduced entry fee at TWMA is a $2.00 deduction off the normal ticket price. Reduced entry fee for Healesville Sanctuary is a 10% deduction off the normal ticket price.
