SCHOOL HOLIDAY EVENT

Inspired by the work featured in System Release, this hands-on workshop invites children aged 6–14 to explore, draw and paint their own imagined lifeforms.

Children will explore the relationships between organic and inorganic forms, designing and painting their own creature inspired by Melbourne artist Alicia Frankovich, whose paintings Bio techno imaginations (1–13) feature in System Release.

Frankovich’s work pictures our era as one where the human and nonhuman are interconnected in complex and creative ways. Her drawings describe our world as a network that requires collective, shared creation, where objects and ideas are merged, rather than separated.

This workshop focuses on:

— Experimenting with colour
— Exploring the shapes and ideas behind natural and inorganic forms
— Experimenting with drawing, painting and overlapping forms
— Exploring the themes of Alicia Frankovich’s art in System Release

Participants will be encouraged to explore ideas of future emerging technologies and natural and human-made forms. Children will get to take home their own designed painting of their lifeform.

All materials are supplied.

We ask that participants arrive 15 minutes before the workshop to complete a Health and Safety form upon arrival. Children aged 6 may require an accompanying adult.
