Heart & Mind

Heart & Mind features five major Australian artists represented in the TarraWarra Museum of Art collection: Jan Senbergs, Rick Amor, Jenny Watson, Melinda Harper and William Kelly. For this project, each artist was invited to curate an independent exhibition focusing on one of their own paintings in the TWMA collection. The intention is to explore the emotional and intellectual content of each artist’s approach to creating their work. An interpretative text has been prepared by each artist-curator.

The exhibition also includes works by other artists who have had a major influence on each individual artist’s oeuvre in addition to memorabilia, books and objects. Consequently, the overall exhibition is rich in a variety of medium and styles ranging from figuration to abstraction providing different perspectives for the viewer and a unique insight into the artists’ understanding of that which influences both their heart and their mind.
