Revisited
From its inception in the artist’s studio an artwork can travel continents and collections and be displayed privately and publicly. Whilst many art lovers cannot own the works they admire, through the facility of exhibitions the viewing public is permitted a relationship with an artwork. Exhibitions offer us an access point, whether commercial, educational or experiential. They also offer a cultural and personal marker. Landmark exhibitions, such as The Field, signify transformation, being at once controversial but also indicative of change in the cultural and societal landscape. Exhibitions can conjure memories of family occasions, school excursions and document the path of an artist’s career.
Revisited is a selection of works from the TarraWarra Museum of Art collection which have been included in exhibitions in both public and commercial gallery spaces in Australia and overseas. By drawing on a range of exhibition support material and ephemera, Revisited exposes a particular aspect of an artwork’s unique journey and invites the viewer to reminisce, rediscover and revisit.
