The Eva and Marc Besen Centre is home to our Visible Art Storage and a unique 200 seat multi-purpose performance space ideal for dedicated workshops, forums, lectures, business events and performances.
Nestled in the heart of Wurundjeri Country in the Yarra Valley, the Eva and Marc Besen Centre is TarraWarra Museum of Art’s new cultural hub — a serene and inspiring venue for learning, gathering, and celebrating creativity.
Designed by Kerstin Thompson Architects and set seamlessly within the landscape by OCULUS in collaboration with Wurundjeri horticulturalist Craig Murphy-Wandin, the Centre offers a rare blend of architectural excellence, panoramic art displays, and adaptable event spaces. Its thoughtful design has been recognised with the 2025 Victorian Architecture Award for Public Architecture and Interior Design from the Australian Institute of Architects.
Whether you’re planning a creative workshop, executive retreat, an intimate dinner, or drinks reception, the Centre’s dedicated event space — supported by a series of flexible satellite areas — invites meaningful connection with art, ideas, nature, and each other.
The unexpected heart of Australian art
We welcome private hire enquiries from organisations seeking a distinct experience for their guests, engaging with the art of Australia. Our team will work with you to create a unique and memorable experience, tailored to your needs. The Centre is equipped with state-of-the-art audiovisual technology and features a 46-metre glass wall offering uninterrupted views of our permanent collection of modern and contemporary Australian art. As a fully operational public Museum and cultural centre, availability for external hire is limited. Please note the Centre is not available for weddings, wedding receptions or public events.
Facilities and Equipment
A spacious, fully equipped venue designed to adapt to a range of private events – from conferences and lectures to events involving entertainment or speeches.
We hire according to two event sizes:
• Flexible capacity up to 70 people
• Flexible capacity from 71 up to 200 people
Fully equipped with AV, lectern and small stage, drop‑down screens, projectors, interactive whiteboards, modular tables, all‑gender toilets, and mobile seating.
The Centre also includes a welcoming foyer, a green room, a parent’s room and a fully equipped warming kitchen to support catering needs.

We’re happy to accommodate dietary requirements where possible, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and allergy-aware options. The Eva and Marc Besen Centre is located at TarraWarra Museum of Art in the Yarra Valley, close to local wineries, cafés and attractions. Guests can also enjoy the TarraWarra Estate cellar door and restaurant before, during or after events, subject to opening hours and availability.

Yes. There are many accommodation options in the Yarra Valley and surrounding areas, ranging from hotels to boutique stays. We’re happy to provide general suggestions on request.
On-site parking is available at TarraWarra Museum of Art. The venue is best accessed by car, taxi or rideshare. If you are planning group transport or coaches, please let us know so we can advise on access and drop-off arrangements.
We offer Museum tours, Visible Art Storage (VAS) tours, or combined experiences. Group sizes and capacities vary and some limitations apply, particularly for Behind the Glass tours. We’ll help you select the best option based on your group size and timing.

In-house audio visual equipment is included in venue hire. This typically covers standard presentation needs. Full details are available in the venue specification document, and additional AV can be arranged if required.
Yes. Technical support can be arranged for your event. Additional charges may apply depending on the level of support required.
Limited printing or copying may be available by prior arrangement. For larger or complex needs, we recommend arranging this externally.
Yes, we have a secure cloak room for storage for personal items.
Payment details, including deposits and final payment timing, will be outlined in your quote. You can pay via credit card or direct deposit.
