Besen Centre
A new era. The Eva and Marc Besen Centre is a unique and breathtaking architectural concept designed by Kerstin Thompson Architects which features the visible storage of over 300 artworks from the Museum’s collection, a learning centre and a performance space.
Upon arrival, you can absorb the panoramic display of 64 storage racks holding the work of some of Australia’s most significant artists, and book yourself an art tour. The new multi-purpose learning and performance space will host family and children’s programs, talks, forums, workshops, live arts and educational programs.
Visible Art Storage
The new Centre will provide visible access to over 300 stored artworks from the TarraWarra Museum of Art collection, the majority of which were gifted by the late Eva Besen AO and Marc Besen AC, who donated the Museum building and nearly 600 artworks from their private collection of twentieth and twenty-first century art.

Art helps us to understand the world and our place within it. This is particularly true for young people as they navigate their way through the complexities of this world and develop a sense of self. TarraWarra Museum of Art delivers an inspiring program of learning experiences for primary, secondary and tertiary students that will help to develop their creative and critical thinking skills. Coming in April 2025, guided art tours for students will commence from the foyer of the Eva and Marc Besen Centre, where students will be able to view the visible art storage.

Developed in collaboration with local and First Nations artists, activities are inspired directly by pieces in the Collection, offering a hands on way to engage with the ideas and materials at the heart of the Museum.
