Vault Magazine Issue 27 Launch |
Trace and Legacy in the Art World

Sunday 28 July 2019
2-4PM

Join VAULT Magazine for the launch of Issue 27, in the fifth iteration of their 2019 Public Program series, at TarraWarra Museum of Art.

This event will include a panel discussion between artists Maree Clarke, Jonathan Jones and Sangeeta Sandrasegar, hosted by VAULT Magazine editor Alison Kubler, on the topic of Trace and Legacy in the Art World in response to the current exhibition TarraWarra International 2019: The Tangible Trace, curated by Victoria Lynn. Guests will also enjoy drinks from TarraWarra Estate and Watts River Brewing, cheese from Yarra Valley Dairy, exhibition entry and a complimentary copy of VAULT Magazine Issue 27.

In art, the trace refers to a residue or marker that hints at an unseen knowledge, body or idea. But throughout history, artists have themselves left traces of their ideas and visions in the culture influencing new generations of artists in the process. This panel surveys the forces that are shaping the way we understand art history as well as the ways in which we define and record artistic legacies in a post-digital world. It also asks: to what extent does this changing definition of the artistic trace offer a chance to remake and remould the canon? And what measures must we take to ensure that we preserve the contributions made by artists breaking new ground today in the future?

Tickets $20, bookings essential.

Ticket includes panel discussion, drinks, refreshments, exhibition entry and a complimentary copy of VAULT Magazine Issue 27. Guests are encouraged to attend from 2pm to enjoy a beverage before the panel commences at 2.30pm. Guests are welcome to view the exhibition before or after the event.
